The purpose of Kate’s coaching is to grow her client’s in-built potential to learn, develop and activate new ways to approach professional and personal challenges. She seeks to help her clients to achieve viable, relevant and personally significant outcomes for lasting change. For Kate, coaching is a development opportunity to learn about yourself and how you relate to others and through greater self-awareness choose fresh, more effective ways of living and working.
Her clients come from a variety of backgrounds and levels of seniority; from large organisations in industries such as the Media to smaller businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals. Outcomes include securing career progression, developing a personally authentic leadership style, identifying purpose and new direction, building effective relationships and teams, transitioning into new roles, and overall increasing resilience and motivation to identify new options for action.
Her strength as a coach lies in her warmth and calmness of approach, and her ability to listen with an attention that let clients explore their stories at a pace that suits them. She uses several psychological and philosophical approaches, inviting her client to focus on observation not analysis; on emotion and reflection, seeking different perspectives to find new ways forward. Kate places her client at the heart of her practice, and aims to co-create coaching sessions for raising client awareness, helping her client identify choices, supporting experimentation, and establishing clear decisions to help her client move forward with commitment.
Kate’s career has been within the broadcast industry for over 20 years, and digital media in particular. She is the founder of Kate Bradshaw Associates, a coaching and digital strategy consultancy. She was most recently VP of International Digital Strategy for SNI, formerly Deputy MD at ITV.com, and a senior editor at the BBC, starting her career in sales of Apple equipment. Kate has been professionally involved in coaching since 2011, becoming an EMCC accredited coach in 2012. She has served on the board of Women in Cable and Telecommunications, a US and UK network developing the careers of women in media.
Kate has completed the i-coach Academy Certificate in Coaching Practice that holds the European Mentoring and Coaching Quality Award at Senior Practitioner level. Kate is a member of the EMCC and subscribes to their code of ethics, as well as receiving regular supervision for her practice.
‘Kate coached me through an exceptionally challenging period in my life and career, but in working with Kate I was able to get fully focused and achieved a significant promotion and became chair of an industry body council. Her EQ to me was the stand out feature – the push and the challenges back to me were always well timed and I was the right kind of uncomfortable at the right times and always had a lot to take away from the times we spent together. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Kate as a coach.’
Senior Exec, News and Media.
‘She exceeded my expectations – asking tough questions without making me feel defensive – and she helped me to gain a greater understanding of my role, my goals and my colleagues. She became the voice of reason in my hectic and fast paced working life and even 18 months after our sessions, some of the points she raised still resonate and have proved to be prophetic…I’ve now landed the COO role I always wanted.’
Chief Financial Officer, cosmetics company.
‘Kate is incredibly skilled at getting me to think differently and I’m discovering more about myself, my approach to work and life…I walk away from each session with a clearer head, better plans, and a practical approach to daily issues, in and out of the workplace’.
Founder, digital start-up.
‘Her clear and calm approach has helped me to see the wood from the trees in my incredibly busy life, which had been missing. Her manner and questioning forced me to think clearly and reach a place where I’d identified for myself what I valued and the characteristics I wanted to lead from.’
CMO, international sports body.
